Keeping Children in Their Circle of Love
Centred Content
Finding and maintaining supportive lifelong connections for children and youth is an integral part of the work of Children’s Aid Societies and key pillars of the Ministry’s child welfare redesign.
We know it is important that children remain connected to their circle of love and community and connections that will help them maintain their culture, heritage, and identity. A large part of a child’s identity is made up of the people they grow up with and the experiences they share with loved ones. Our aim is to ensure every child has a network of safe adults they can turn to as they grow and transition into adulthood.
Across the province, Children’s Aid Societies are working to reduce the number of children coming into their care. They are doing this by diligently working with and looking for extended family and kin to help protect and care for children without bringing or keeping them in the care of a Children’s Aid Society.
